Run Update! Important!

As most of you know already, due to the overwhelming response to this year's run, and the limited amount of ferry space, we had to cap registration. Tim and I were very bummed about this, as we know there are still quite a few people who wanted to come, but didn't sign up in time. Also, being the knuckleheads that we are, we like to go full speed ahead, balls to the wall, and hate the idea of having to limit anything. The more the merrier, right? So here's what we are thinking about doing...

Instead of only camping Friday night on Ocracoke Island, and then catching the 2 hour ferry on Saturday over to Cedar Island and heading to Wilmington for the end of the run...we thought it would be really cool to spend a second night camping on Ocracoke Island. Nobody would have to worry about getting up early and packing their gear in order to catch the ferry. We would spend the day riding and hanging out, drinking beer on the beach, with another bonfire that night. Since this would be the official end of the run, we would also have a big cookout (food supplied by Tim and I). This seems more in the spirit of what a traditional run should be... Sunday morning/afternoon, everybody can just pack up their gear at their pace and split when they're ready.

This would allow for more time to explore the island (lots of cool shit there), more time to relax and hang out with friends, more time to take a few rides to points on the coast (short ride back to Cape Hatteras, etc...), a second bonfire, and some serious cooking out. Most importantly, this would allow us to open registration back up and give everybody who wants to, a chance to come on the run and have a good time.

If we ended up choosing this option, the portion of your pass/bundle that was meant to cover your ferry passage would be used to cover the second night of camping and food, which would be our end of the run party (Tim and I would provide all of the BBQ meats and sides, etc...).

Please voice your opinion if you have one regarding this alternate option for the second half of the run, as Tim and I will be making a decision very soon. You can post your comments here, or send Tim and I an email:

So how are we getting off the island on sunday then if your buying a camping pass with our ferry money?

Id rather party in wilmy and not have a 10 hour ride home in time for work bright and early monday.

I like this idea, it'll be way more chill. A few of the family guys in our crew were gonna have to head back home Saturday anyway because Sunday is Easter.

I'd be fine with this plan or the original plan. It's a killer ride from Ocracoke to Wilmington though, too. So I'm basically no help.

Whatever is decided, the NSTC will be there. Ready to chill on the island or ride on to Wilmington. But we also have made reservations for sat. night in Wilmington. So we will have to try and get our money back.

Nothing's set in stone yet...just trying to figure out a way to allow more people to come.

99%- You get off the Island the same way you get on, riding the free ferry from cape hatteras to ocracoke.

chris & kyle79-most hotels don't actually charge a deposit, they just run your card for a $1 to verify it, and then charge you when you check in/out...

i think its good. the only people who are not wanting to change are people who already have sleeping plans for sat. i think it will be better to party and camp 2 nights then wake up sunday and go.saves a lot of people the trouble of sleeping arrangements for sat.

man there aint gonna be shit to do saturday, ocracoke is like 32 ft long. damn it'll be cool either way, but shit man, our ferry aint the one one goin into ceder island is it?? folks could take an earlier or later ferry to the other side.

Hell yeah the way it should be

I think there would be plenty of stuff to keep us occupied on Saturday between riding, drinking, raffles, and cooking out. The ferry we are concerned about is the one from Ocracoke to Cedar Island...it is the reason we had to cap the registration off.

I like the idea of kicking it 2 nights on Ocracoke. It will limit both night's parties to pretty much those of us on the run, which is how it should be. Camping all weekend will make it more of a traditional run.

Totally down with 2 nights camping - the run will be a blast either way, and if more people can join up this way, then fuck it, why not?

I dig the idea. Better than me leavin saturday night headin back to philly

ferry schedule for cedar island/ocracoke > http://www.ncdot.org/ferry/

anyone taking the 1pm ferry should still have ample time to make it to the party.

Turning around half way sounds like the retreat run.

What would Black Beard do?

Don't change it!

99% - we appreciate the help, but if you actually speak to the ferry people, they won't even let you make anymore reservations, as they are not sure they will be offering those same times. Even if they did, anybody on the 1:00 ferry would not hit Cedar Island until 3:30, which puts you into Wilmington well after all of the festivities get started.

Rest assured, we've done our research. We are not looking for anymore logistical experts, we just want to know what people would prefer.

I'm down either way, but I'd rather camp the extra night then have to figure out where I'm staying in wilmington. More bikes, no cops, no DUI's, and no bike thieves sounds fucking awesome.

Hell yeah. Just as long as there is plenty of booze and broads on the island, I'm good with 2 nights.

two island days

I'm down for staying on course as planned

Stick with the original plan. The second day on the island is almost guaranteed to be fucking boring. I'd rather keep riding, keep seeing new roads.

After thinking about this a little more, Here's a couple of questions. Where's the run? If its 2 days of camping on the island then its not much of a run. If you do the camping on the island what about getting off and back on? if their is in issue getting more people on then getting off and on during the 2 day isn't much riding. Back to question 1 where's the run?
